First Photobash Assignment

My first photobash piece. I had so much fun with this one and the results were so satisfying. My client loved it. I basically clipped parts from different photos to construct poses, facial expressions and props. All had to have consisting lighting and I still had to paint in some parts. Overall good process.

The Practicing Mind

So I've been a bit busy these last weeks or months. I haven't updated this blog in a while. But I'm going to perform some new disciplinary measures to get stuff done more often. I put it in my calendar to start updating my blog every week.

I've got alot of work to do as far as self improvement. For a while now I have fallen victim to procrastination. I watch tutorials, daydream and think about creating work but I always have to force myself to do it. To just do it. If I have an assignment of course I do the work without thinking about it and it comes out great, because there is a deadline. An outside force has an influence on whether or not I finish a task. I have to start to teach myself to get into the habit of always creating artwork to keep getting better and better. I have to focus on the present moment instead of daydreaming how good I can become in the future.

Its something that has been on my mind alot. I worry about who's better than me and what is the standard of perfection that I have to reach. This can be helpful, to know what the standard is, but it can also be a crutch, because I get caught up in watching other people's work and tutorials so much that I don't give myself that time on improving my own body of work.

Anyway, I've got my calendar and Im sticking to it. Enough talk. Time for action.

Compositional Study

Just a quick compositional study. I just started putting blobs down with no real clear vision of what I was painting exactly, until an image started to reveal itself. Kinda like a developing photo print. Once it kinda looked like something, and I knew what it was, then I refined it. Added the cables to frame the subject. Still not sure what it is. I think it's a cop investigating some kind of mech junk yard.

Color Master Studies

Im really enjoying these studies. I can pay a bit more attention to what colors I choose. Im surprised at how unsaturated some of the colors are in some of these old paintings. It was a good lesson. Will continue these.

My my my. How long has it been since I've written a post. Well, you'll be hearing from me more often. I'm keeping busy now with pinerostudios.com. My official site.

I did some master studies of NC Wyeth and Dean Cornwell. Compositional studies. Will have some color studies on the way as well and some landscapes. I really want to push myself to be better and doing masters are a great way to learn so I've heard.
